The Truth about Contraception:

     It is something that planned parenthood and the contraception companies certainly do not overdo themselves to inform you of, and something that even some Catholics, pro-life mantra and all, either do not realize, or are too indoctrinated by the teachings of our contraception-crazed culture to accept: most contraception acts as an abortifacient.
Let me be perfectly clear.  That means that fertilization has happened.  You have conceived a baby, and your contraception causes you to loose that baby.
     I cannot tell you how many conversations I have had with friends who had never heard of--or never thought about--this, and these women had been using birth control for years!  A few women told me that I was wrong--they had never been told that by anyone else, after all.

     Unfortunately, whether we want to believe it or not, most forms of birth control act as abortifacients.    

 Hormonal Birth Control

     If you are on "the pill", or get "the shot," you are taking Hormonal birth control.  Hormonal birth control works in two ways.  Artificial estrogen and progestin hormones work to suppress ovulation and thicken cervical mucus, hindering the sperms ability to reach the egg, thereby preventing fertilization.  Ovulation still occurs between 2%- 8% of the time.  

"But the pill is 99% effective!"--Yes, it is.  That is because hormonal BC also functions as an abortifacient by turning the uterus into an inhospitable environment for the developing blastocyst, resulting in an early abortion.  Thus, a couple having intercourse twice a week for a year could, in theory, conceive and abort a child 2 to 8 times every year and never even know it.  

IUDs

     An Plain IUD is a device inserted into the uterus that prevents implantation only, thus resulting in an early abortion.  The conception rate for a plain IUD is the same as not using contraception, but every pregnancy is aborted. Hormone-embedded IUDs will sometimes inhibit ovulation, but again, when that fails, it causes an early abortion.  

Morning After Pill
      "Plan B" and others like it are marketed as a way to "prevent" pregnancy after an unfortunate accident (a broken or unused condom) or rape.  The truth of the matter is that by the time a women gets the morning after pill she has already conceived and these pills do not "prevent" pregnancy, they terminate it.

     I could also tell you about all the harmful side effects caused by each of these forms of Birth Control, but I think I will save that for another post.  For now I will leave you to ponder the truth about Contraception: it terminates pregnancy.  It may have terminated a pregnancy of yours or your friends.
